If you are interested in your health, the health of those you love and the health of the Planet, join me here. Our health is affected by our environment, our political and economic systems and our relationship to everything around us. We are interconnected with everyone on the planet. If we purchase items that cause harm to others across the world, our health is impacted. If we hold on to anger at others, if we keep dangerous secrets inside us and withhold love, we damage our health. This blog will deal with our food supply, our health care system, our environment as well as the economic and political factors that are affecting our well being. I will blog about books, including the ones I am writing, movies, articles and links to sites that can help us all stay healthy in mind, body and spirit. Now a toast, Here's To your HealthAsk me anything
If you want to find out why we are no longer healthy and why so many of us are suffering from heart disease, diabetes and cancer, read Michael Pollan’s book, In Defense of Food. He will outline the way in which nutritionists and the food industry have changed our diets to our detriment.
I have been reading, In Defense of Food, and can see that Michael Pollan has an answer for saving $ -example 80% of Type 2 Diabetes could be prevented by diet and exercise. “But though fast food may be good business for the health care industry, the cost to society - an estimated $250 billion a year in diet-related health care costs and rising rapidly - cannot be sustained indefinitely.” Change our food - change our health, therefore save our $.
This Week’s Prayer Visualization
With the E-Coli scare in Hamburg, human heath concerns take center stage. As the average
age of most nations increases, more and more individuals are facing health problems in
themselves, or in someone they love. At the same time, research shows that heath problems
are occurring in people at earlier ages. More children and young adults are getting sicker now
with diseases once thought only to affect the old. The incidence of diabetes, cancer, arthritis,
Alzheimers, and other diseases in younger people are reaching alarming levels.
The Problem: an increase in the consumption of unhealthy foods. Over the last few decades,
commercial junk and processed foods, with their many dangerous chemical additives, have
grown across the world, even as a increasing number of people — though still a minority —
are becoming more aware of the problem, and the solution. There is always the possibility of
a superbug arising in the world, and the best defense is a healthy immune system built from
healthy eating and a preventive lifestyle. Join us as we prayerfully visualize scientists, politicians,
teachers, and citizens everywhere become more fully conscious of the relationship between clean
food and health in a time of possible pandemics.
